A quick start from Dustythepainmaster as he had them running, bear crawling, hitting pads, more bear crawling and tackling before they knew it!! The players were soon looking for their second wind as there was nowhere to hide from his watchful eye…….and they found it in abundance as they upped the intensity and focus.

After a short water break Frankiethepitchsideconsultant introduced them to a new drill where the showed their Spartan Warrior spirit. The game involved 4v4 tackling/wrestling until the last one standing was the winner!!! This encouraged them to stay low, drive hard in the tackle and wrestle their opponent to the ground. To be honest it was so ferocious at times even the coaches were a little frightened of what we had unleashed!!!

The focus then turned to the breakdown/tackle area.
The first drill was Ball presentation after a tackle (working hard on the ground to get the ball back to our side after a tackle)
Then the focus was then on the bullet and quick support. Then finally the scrum half came in to move the ball quickly to support runners to start the whole process again.

After another water break they finished with a ‘rucking’ game where they practised their skills with the focus now on the players staying onside around the ruck.
A long narrow-pitch with lots of rucking/bullets/ wrestling.
Dustythepainmaster was shouting ruck at every opportunity and frankiethepitchsideconsultant was calling the onside/offside line.

Overall a great session of ruck ruck ruck followed by another big dollop of ruck ruck ruck!!!

Each player worked their socks off today and showed they were proper Spartan Warriors!!!
